Meet Caysen & the Courtright family

An update told my Caysen’s mom:

“Our journey started last summer. There were five nights over the summer where Caysen woke up crying and complaining that his legs hurt. I thought they were growth spurts or growing pains, but the last time I took him to our pediatrician just to be safe. After blood work was ordered and the results came back we were told Caysen had Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. On August 6, 2018 Caysen was diagnosed.

On August 17th, Caysen was released from Children’s Hospital after a 12-day inpatient stay. On August 31st, he became a big brother, when his baby sister, Tatum was born.

Since then his journey has been *okay*, with a few hiccups along the way. As of right now he is finishing up Interim Maintenance 2 (5th phase out of 6 phases of treatment). He is scheduled to start the last phase of treatment very soon, which will last about 3 years. He’ll receive daily chemo at home and go into clinic once a month for infusion chemo and receive a spinal tap every 12 weeks.

Angels Among Us has been SO helpful for our family. Knowing that we have extra help with medical bills makes the stress a little less. HAd we not been lucky enough to receive AAU’s help, I would have needed to shorten my leave from work, giving me less time with my kids. We’re forever grateful.

Caysen continues to be strong and laugh and smile along the way. He is such a good big brother and is a big fan of Paw Patrol, Mickey and PJ Masks. We can’t wait for him to get back a little bit of normalcy this summer, when he can be outside and play!”
