Our Impact

Angels Among Us provides financial and emotional support to pediatric cancer families living in or being treated in Nebraska.

We strive to be THE place a pediatric cancer families turns to in our state.

How We Help

Our organization works with families of children with cancer being treated at Nebraska hospitals (even if these families reside in other states) as well as Nebraska residents receiving treatments out of state.

We provide Hope, Help & Monetary Relief

  • 66%

Of households AAU serves are single income due to child’s cancer diagnosis

  • 20

Months is the average length of AAU Support

  • 29%

Have to give up a home due to financial burden

Nebraska Ranks #1

out of the 12 Midwestern States for the number of pediatric cancer incidences per capita. When a child is diagnosed with cancer, life seems to stop. Expenses don’t. That’s where we come in.

Helping Families With Expenses

Over the last 17 years, we have helped nearly 700 families with expenses totaling to close to $5 million. But most importantly, we have helped nearly 700 families read bedtime stories and play board games without the all-consuming worry of paying bills such as:

  • Electric, gas, sewer, water
  • Rent and mortgage payments
  • Auto payments
  • Medical bills and prescriptions
  • Auto insurance
  • Jennifer Rudd Emergency Fund*

*Sometimes, a family faces their worst fears and we assist with funeral expenses through our Jennifer Rudd Emergency Fund

Harper Hope Center

Angels Among Us has always longed for a permanent home and we finally moved into it in September of 2023.

The Harper Hope Center is dedicated to serving the families we assist. It is their home away from home, a place of respite from their cancer journey.

We are placed strategically down the street from Children’s Nebraska where majority of the families we serve receive treatment. The space is equipped with a place to relax, a small kitchen for snacks or meals, laundry services, and space to meet and build community.
